The Next Step: Desktop, January 25, 2012

I finished making twelve goddesses and hung them up to survey my work. Big mistake, thinking I was done, right? As I looked them over I couldn't help but notice I have made some polymer clay beads that, surprise, match a few of my goddesses.
So, I pull all my large hole beads, polymer and glass lamp work alike, in order to peruse the color explosion in front of me. I start draping beads on hooks with coordinating goddesses.
Then I sit back to try to grasp this new element...beads, too? I look at the goddesses I didn't find beads to match. Are they "naked" or actually more powerful?
I try the switch between with beads and without beads with the red goddess because I loved her without extra beads. My quandary remains, "With or without more beads?" I put off (procrastinate)such decisions before I make a spontaneous choice I'll be sorry about later. I have put away the bead madness and am thinking, "Spring!".

Desktop, January 20, 2012: Procrastination

Maybe it's the "after holiday" slump? Maybe I need a nap...whatever it is, I am putting off taking photos of the new work I want to put on Etsy and take to the gallery. I have avoided the photo shoot by starting a new goddess each time.
Now, I need to clear my work tables to start making new work for spring. I especially like Mother's Day and Easter because of the flowers and pastels. With that in mind I have rigged a "light box" to hang the goddesses. It is rough but I'm pretty sure it will work. I, also, need to photograph the goddesses in a position other than hanging. I'm hoping I'll figure that out. LOL

Desktop: Friday the 13th, 2012

I have been so involved with making these goddesses I have only taken a couple of images and thought about posting but, I had to post on Friday the thirteenth, right? Been a good day. Worked this afternoon with my son to pack and put away all of the Christmas decorations. I'm considering a planned purge next year when the "Season" comes around again. Time has passed and Christmas must continue to become more manageable. Here, here, motion passed.
Here you can see the bits and pieces I have out to make the yellow goddess. This is her before...
I finished the yellow goddess and made a blue one. These are almost decadent to make they are so much fun. Plus I get to play in my beads guilt free.

Desktop, January 7, 2012: Goddesses and Valentines

Been indulging in my favorite things the last couple of weeks. The week between Christmas and New Years has always been about down time and catch-up. The routine is ingrained in my psyche due to years of higher education. So, the first two weeks of the new year are easy to let myself relax and reflect on the year passing...and feel like I get a little ahead. It was always a delusion, the getting ahead thing.
Although, this year I have finished and listed my handmade Valentine's Day cards before the end of the first week of the year. Not spectacular but moving forward in a timely manner. LOL
I have been creating hangy-downs with my goddesses. I shared the beginnings of different ideas in my muffin tin in my last post. I got totally absorbed in searching my large stash of vintage beads and old costume jewelry. It took the better part of three days to do the search and do some research online and read a book about goddesses globally. Very interesting reading.
I'm thinking I want to call these "Watchers" because I am tempted to put one on the rear view mirror in my car. I, also, want to wear them, each a color statement. They feel a little magical to me. I'm totally pleased with all the doodads I have stashed to use. Now they are vintage doodads. LOL I would love to know what you think about my "Watcher Goddesses". Enjoy!
