BSBP7 Second Reveal

It's here! It's here! The second reveal for Lori Anderson's Bead Soup Blog Party #7. Please, visit my partner, Carolyn's reveal on her blog here: http://www.kookykardinal.blogspot.com The bead soup I sent to her will be featured in her reveal. I was so excited, this being my first BSBP, I didn't know what to send. So, I sent Carolyn a 100% polymer clay soup, not realizing the challenge I sent her way! I can't wait to see what she created. There will be beautiful wire work involved, I'm sure. I posted an image of the incredible soup my partner, Carolyn Gebert, sent to me in February. I simmered my soup, stirred my soup and fell in love with the color story Carolyn told. These are magical and personal colors for me, my eyes are jade green and if I had fur, burnt ocher would be the color. The green and ocher glass leaf was the key focal in the color story. I had to translate the soup for use with polymer clay. I started by making two goddesses, matching hands, and a series of graduated discs in each color, jade green and burnt ocher, with polymer clay. I embellished each goddess with the incredible variety of beads in my soup. I sifted through my own goodies to add to the mix. I chose the stones, such as peridot, turquoise, amber, tiger's eye, mother of pearl, jade and amethyst. I added crystals, lamp work beads, metal amulets, and sterling charms to make the most interesting and meaningful combinations. I used satin weave ribbons to create the beaded "chains". I loved working with the turquoise. It was a perfect combination with the burnt ocher. The colors pop. I, also, loved the unakite(?) beads, especially the tear drops. Best of all, the tiny Swarovski(?) crystals were plentiful enough to scatter throughout both necklaces. Thank you, Carolyn, for your generosity! I had several firsts with materials: the Swarovski crystals are new to me, the little copper and plexi tube I filled with turquoise is new and so cool, the filigree copper beads are awesome. Both copper toggle hooks are the first I have used. I am going to add them to my playlist. LOL The large copper oval that Carolyn etched and colored is beautiful. The oval isn't the background for the jade green goddess, it is her environment! She is at home. Each goddess has a story and I plan to post each story as soon as they materialize! Their colors start the story and all the amulets, stones and crystals have their chapters to add. The jade green goddess emotes well being, growth, and self respect, for a start. And the burnt ocher goddess is all about courage, enthusiasm, and creativity. She, also, is accompanied by turquoise, the spiritual stone. So, it begins! FYI. I will be listing both goddesses on Etsy this week, unless they find homes with their soul mates today. :-) Please, don't forget to visit as many of the BSBP7 participating blogs as you can! The list of participating artist's blogs are listed here: http://lorianderson-beadsoupblogparty.blogspot.com/2013/04/7th-bead-soup-blog-party-2nd-reveal.html Here are the etsy listings: https://www.etsy.com/listing/129309877/polymer-clay-story-necklace-goddess-w?ref=shop_home_active..........https://www.etsy.com/listing/129302677/polymer-clay-story-necklace-goddess-with?ref=v1_other_2

  30. Billi, you've managed the challenge very well. They're both beautiful necklaces without compromising your special and unique style. The colour combinations are great. I don't know what my favourite is: the green+brown or the turquoise+brown. I also love the way you've woven the beads into the ribbon - that's very creative. Great job.
